Chattanooga has been my home since I was born. I probably know your Mom and Dad, grandparents or aunt and uncle. I married my high school sweetheart, Beth Walker Mason, in 1975. We are both graduates of Chattanooga Central High School and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
Morris Hill is my second pastorate since my ordination in 1983. I have been pastor of Morris Hill Baptist since 1994. Longevity at a church is one of my core values and I believe it is not only important for a pastor, but also for the church. My preaching style is simple so that everyone can understand. I enjoy verse-by-verse preaching of God’s Word. His Word reveals Himself to us, so I don’t want to leave anything out. My desire is to finish well in the ministry; to bring honor to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
I am currently serving as the Co-Pastor and have been on staff since October of 2008. My greatest desire is to grow the Kingdom of God. I am originally from Scottsboro, AL. Before being called into vocational ministry, I worked ten years for Scottsboro Electric Power Board.
I have obtained a B. A. in Biblical Studies at Southeastern College, Wake Forest, NC.; Master of Divinity from Southeastern Theological Seminary, Wake Forest, NC.; and a Master of Theology from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, KY.
I have been married to Kristy since 1993. We have one daughter, Briana and Son-in-law Aaron Randolph. We enjoy outdoor activities, including hiking, biking, shooting, and golf. We also enjoy family gatherings, watching football, and eating at all the different restaurants Chattanooga has to offer.
It is a joy and honor to be serving as the Worship Pastor at Morris Hill Baptist. My wife, Melea and I both grew up in east-central Alabama. We met in our junior year in high school and got married five years later. The Lord has blessed us with two wonderful children, Nate and Aria.
Our call to full-time ministry began on the first Sunday of December 1985. We have since served in churches in Alabama, Florida, and Georgia. We are looking forward to the days ahead at Morris Hill. We also trust that as we gather each Sunday that we will be led to the throne room of the Lord where HE will be honored and magnified above all!
Education and Administration Pastor
I was born and raised in the great city of Chattanooga. There has never been another place I have wanted to call home. Every day that God gives me to minister to students in this area is a blessing. Before answering the call into the ministry I worked for 19 years at Precision Marine as a technician. Precision Marine is my dad’s business that he founded in 1983. If within the last 19 years you have owned a boat there is a good possibility my dad or I have worked on it.
In 1994 I met Becky Summers, and in 1996 I was blessed to have her become my wife. God has blessed us with two great kids; Rozlyn, and Preslee. I am currently serving as the youth pastor at Morris Hill Baptist, and have been on staff since November 2008. The responsibility to train and equip students for their walk with God is awesome, and I am thankful and humbled by the opportunity (Romans 12: 1-2).
Student and Families Pastor
I am so excited to come on staff as the Pastor of Students and Families at Morris Hill Baptist Church. I am originally from Cumming, Georgia, but have visited Chattanooga throughout various stages of my life. It has been a dream come true to now live just outside Chattanooga, and serve in this role here. I have felt the calling into full time ministry since I was 15 years old. I met my wife Taylor at Young Harris College in the North Georgia Mountains, where I obtained a B.S. in Business and Public Policy. After graduating from Young Harris, I moved to Mooresboro, NC to attend Gardner Webb University, where I obtained a Masters of Divinity, with emphasis in Pastoral Care and Counseling.
Taylor and I enjoy anything we get to do outside, such as mountain biking, hiking, rock climbing, running and more. I also have a childhood passion for trains (that I have never grown out of), to which I love spending time frequently track-side with camera in hand to record pictures and videos of railroads all across the United States. Most importantly, I feel a burden to be a Gospel proclaimer at any opportunity God provides for me to share about the hope, grace and true life found in Jesus Christ our Lord. We are thrilled to start this new adventure at Morris Hill Baptist, specifically focusing on the growth of students and families in their relationship with Jesus Christ. To God be the glory in all that is ahead at Morris Hill!
I was born in Clarkston, Michigan but my family moved here when I was only a few months old, so Chattanooga is definitely home to me. I attended Chattanooga High School for Performing Arts (now known as CCA) and graduated in 1994. I married the love of my life, Nick Mills, in 1996 and we have two children, McKenzie and Hayden. I have spent most of my adult life being a stay at home mom to them and caring for many other kids along the way. I accepted the position of Children’s Director in June of 2015.
Teaching children about Christ is exciting, challenging and fascinating work. Kids are not afraid to ask questions and challenge my understanding, which I love. If they are asking, then they are learning! Psalm 127:3 tells us that “Children are a heritage from the Lord,” and Deuteronomy 6:7 tells us, “You shall teach them (commandments) diligently to your children and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.” What an honor it is to be charged with the responsibility of coming alongside parents and teaching children the word of God.
I grew up in Pennsylvania with my mom, dad and sister. My husband of 15 years, Ian, and I moved to Chattanooga about 13 years ago. We have three boys; Patrick, Evan and Caleb. I have been a homeschool mom now for 7 years. I love my family, board games, camping and unsweet tea; but I sure do miss snow and skiing in the winter.
I started this position in July 2020. I have always had a passion for teaching children and women and am overjoyed to take this position here at Morris Hill. Ian and I have been members of Morris Hill since 2008. I personally have served in the preschool department, AWANA, and Kids Crossing, and have also assisted and taught children’s and women’s studies. I thank God for this opportunity and pray that I serve my King and Savior in everything that I do.
