Chattanooga has been my home since I was born. I probably know your Mom and Dad, grandparents or aunt and uncle. I married my high school sweetheart, Beth Walker Mason, in 1975. We are both graduates of Chattanooga Central High School and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
Morris Hill is my second pastorate since my ordination in 1983. I have been pastor of Morris Hill Baptist since 1994. Longevity at a church is one of my core values and I believe it is not only important for a pastor, but also for the church. My preaching style is simple so that everyone can understand. I enjoy verse-by-verse preaching of God’s Word. His Word reveals Himself to us, so I don’t want to leave anything out. My desire is to finish well in the ministry; to bring honor to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
I am originally from Scottsboro, AL. Before being called into vocational ministry, I worked as a Lineman with the Scottsboro Electric Power Board. Since leaving my previous job, I have obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies from Southeastern College at Wake Forest, Master of Divinity from Southeastern, and a Master of Theology from Southern Seminary in Louisville Kentucky.
I am currently serving as the Co-Pastor and have been on staff since October of 2008. My wife, Kristy and I have been married since 1993 and have one daughter, Briana. My desire and vision is to build the Kingdom of God through living and proclaiming the Gospel message, rightly and boldly proclaiming the Word of God, and equipping the church to walk in a manner worthy of the Gospel.
It is a joy and honor to be serving as the Worship Pastor at Morris Hill Baptist. My wife, Melea and I both grew up in east-central Alabama. We met in our junior year in high school and got married five years later. The Lord has blessed us with two wonderful children, Nate and Aria.
Our call to full-time ministry began on the first Sunday of December 1985. We have since served in churches in Alabama, Florida, and Georgia. We are looking forward to the days ahead at Morris Hill. We also trust that as we gather each Sunday that we will be led to the throne room of the Lord where HE will be honored and magnified above all!
I was born and raised in the great city of Chattanooga. There has never been another place I have wanted to call home. Every day that God gives me to minister to students in this area is a blessing. Before answering the call into the ministry I worked for 19 years at Precision Marine as a technician. Precision Marine is my dad’s business that he founded in 1983. If within the last 19 years you have owned a boat there is a good possibility my dad or I have worked on it.
In 1994 I met Becky Summers, and in 1996 I was blessed to have her become my wife. God has blessed us with two great kids; Rozlyn, and Preslee. I am currently serving as the youth pastor at Morris Hill Baptist, and have been on staff since November 2008. The responsibility to train and equip students for their walk with God is awesome, and I am thankful and humbled by the opportunity (Romans 12: 1-2).
I was born in Clarkston, Michigan but my family moved here when I was only a few months old, so Chattanooga is definitely home to me. I attended Chattanooga High School for Performing Arts (now known as CCA) and graduated in 1994. I married the love of my life, Nick Mills, in 1996 and we have two children, McKenzie and Hayden. I have spent most of my adult life being a stay at home mom to them and caring for many other kids along the way. I accepted the position of Children’s Director in June of 2015.
Teaching children about Christ is exciting, challenging and fascinating work. Kids are not afraid to ask questions and challenge my understanding, which I love. If they are asking, then they are learning! Psalm 127:3 tells us that “Children are a heritage from the Lord,” and Deuteronomy 6:7 tells us, “You shall teach them (commandments) diligently to your children and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.” What an honor it is to be charged with the responsibility of coming alongside parents and teaching children the word of God.
I grew up in Chattanooga where I attended Boyd Buchanan and The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. I received my Bachelors of Science in Business Administration with a focus in Marketing. Prior to my position as Preschool Director of Ministry at Morris Hill, I was an outside sales rep for Mohawk Industries. In 2009, I married my husband, Joseph Mason and we now have two sons, Jake and Reid. After a few years of being a mom and trying to work full time, we started praying that the Lord would show me what I was supposed to do next because I felt like I wasn’t doing either very well. A few days later this position came available and it was clear that I should answer the call. I am so thankful that the Lord is always faithful.
